Across the country, people from all walks of life are discovering the health-enhancing benefits of massage therapy and acupressure, two of the most ancient and venerable healing arts. (Written records of massage and oriental medicine used in health care date back over 3,000 years to ancient China.) The modalities span a variety of therapeutic approaches, working to improve a person’s health and well being through the hands-on manipulation of muscles, treatment of the meridians and other soft tissues of the body. American consumers visit massage therapists 75 million times each year, where they spend between $2 and $4 billion annually.

Qualified massage therapists are offering their services in a wide variety of settings today, including: private practice clinics and offices, health clubs and fitness centers, chiropractors’ offices, nursing homes and hospitals, spas, salons, resorts, cruise ships, and on-site in the workplace.

The 650-hour basic massage therapy program at Luzerne County Community College will enable you to enter the growing field of alternative healthcare. Upon successful completion of the program, you will be eligible to sit for the National Certification of Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork exam.
